Rescues We Work With
HELPING PET RESCUES IN MOUNT PROSPECT AND THE GREATER CHICAGO AREA

As long as there are companion animals in need, there will always be compassionate rescue organizations working to save their lives and find them loving forever homes. At Companion Animal Hospital Mount Prospect, we know that low-cost medical services are always a necessity for successful rescue and adoption efforts. We’re happy to provide wellness exams, vaccinations, and other services for rescued and adopted pets. Call (847) 296-1188 to learn how you can get involved!
Currently, our hospital partners with the following organizations:
Stationed in Arlington Heights, The Buddy Foundation was established in 1995 and named in honor of one of the original founder’s beloved dogs. The Buddy Foundation is a volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)3 that dedicates all of its funds to caring for homeless dogs and cats. Visit their website to see what you can do to help them in their mission.
Located right here in Mount Prospect, Adopt-A-Pet was founded in 1981 and has since helped save over 15,000 dogs and cats. All of their rescues are boarded at partnering animal hospitals or housed in volunteer foster homes pending adoption. In addition to their rescue efforts, Adopt-A-Pet also does community outreach in the form of educational presentations at area schools and speaking engagements throughout Chicago to promote responsible pet care.
Roll Over Animal Rescue (ROAR) is a 501(c)3 organization focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing dogs. ROAR is not a shelter and does not operate out of a facility; all of the dogs they rescue live in foster homes. To become a foster for Roll Over Animal Rescue, take a look at their website and give them a call!
Second City Canine Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization run primarily by dedicated volunteers. Not limited to Chicagoland, SCCR also has branches in Oklahoma, Indiana, Kentucky, and other states. SCCR relies on foster homes to house their rescues and make them eligible for adoption and believes in “rescuing responsibly” to ensure that each pet finds the right family.
BLACKDOG All Breed Dog Rescue is a licensed, non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates dogs from high-kill shelters. BABDR works with fosters, volunteers, area veterinarians, and trainers to help more dogs find their forever homes.
Based in Northern Illinois, IDR+ is devoted to rescuing dogs and cats from humane societies, animal control organizations, and give-up situations, finding them homes and educating the public about the Doberman breed. All animals taken into their care are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for heartworm, and microchipped. Rescues are also placed in foster homes to study their behavior and help them learn basic manners and commands.
